Top 5 Female Anime Characters

Alright, so who doesn't like the many, many, women of the expansive anime world? From a relatively new character like Neptune from Hyperdimension Neptunia to an old fan favorite like Bulma from the Dragon Ball universe here's 5 of my personal favorites.

Disclaimer

Spoilers included but not marked.

1. Neptune(right)/Purple Heart(left)

First simply because she's one of the newer ones on my list and she's just awesome all around. From the little known series Hyperdimension Neptunia for PlayStation consoles starting on the ps3. She has a pretty lighthearted and joking personality normally, but once she transforms to her CPU/Goddess form she's quite the formidable adversary and her jokes turn to bravery and other more "heroic" traits. Purple Heart is her name during her transformed state, along with a personality change she also becomes stronger, as well as a change in hair color and height. Being a Goddess, she's also youthful forever with a young woman's physique as Neptune but a more mature body physically in Purple Heart form.

2. Mikasa Ackerman

Another character from a pretty new anime series, Attack on Titan. Mikasa Ackerman has various moments where you just wonder "Can she get any more awesome?!" and for me so far the answer has been yes. Take episode 9 for example where she boldly proclaims (while surrounded by soldiers) that she'll defend Eren when he's accused of treason. Easily one of my favorite scenes and episodes, all throughout the series however she displays bravery, loyalty, and an understanding of the dire situation everyone is placed in. She's also one of the strongest and most skilled fighters in the series, probably #1 as far as the females go.

3. Kallen Stadtfelt
From the popular series, Code Geass up next is Kallen Stadfelt, possessing qualities that define her as a true fighter. Despite being half Japanese and Britannian she decides to join the resistance against Britannia along with he older brother. Once Zero takes over she becomes his #1 member as far as loyalty and overall skill is concerned. One of the best pilots and hand to hand fighters, only rivaled by few. Acting more or less as his bodyguard and even falling in love with his true identity in the process. Even with Zero doing what he did and basically becoming the enemy of the resistance she reluctantly fought against him without holding back, showing her true loyalty to the Japanese in the end.

4. Kyoko Kirigri

Up next, Kyoko Kirigiri from Danganronpa, again from an anime and video game adaptation as well. The others on the list might have physical fighting locked down tight but Kyoko is a different type of fighter. Someone more relatable to me on a personal level, labeled as the Ultimate Detective she and Makoto do a pretty good majority of the mystery solving for the class. The plot twist that her memories of being a detective were erased is amazing and showed just how much of a threat she was considered to the antagonist's "game". She shows qualities throughout the series that show that even with memories erased she was determined, courageous, and clever enough to succeed. Truly a female protagonist worthy of recognition.
5. Yuno Gasai
Last but definitely not least Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki.(Future Diary)[English Name] Easily one of the more emotionally unstable characters on the list. That does not change the fact that she's at some points single handily the reason Yuki even survives any of the things they go through throughout the series. Her overprotective nature and lack of caring of anyone else besides Yuki and herself lets her turn into a killer, and kidnapper, among other things just to ensure the safety of the one she loves. Once you find out the abuse she suffers at the hands of her parents and the loneliness she must have felt, it can have you wondering if maybe she isn't really the only one to blame for how she's turned out and makes her a much more relatable character in general. The anime itself kept me awake just to see how her story concludes, she's a completely compelling character that I couldn't imagine leaving off the list, despite the wrong she does, she does it for love. Cliche? Maybe a little bit, but still a great character.

That's five of my favorite female characters from anime series I've seen. Do you have any you really like? What do you think about the list? Comment down below.
P.S. This list isn't based on their appearance but based on their actual character. Also it's not in any particular order, just the five in the top.
